Job Summary: The Hudson Connection is seeking a reliable, friendly, organized writer to join our editorial team! The Content Coordinator will assist the Publisher in sourcing great local content by and for the residents of Columbia County. This dual role also serves as an introductory point of contact for clients, prospective clients, and contributors to create an efficient and cooperative workflow. The CC/PA reports directly to the Publisher, with strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Responsibilities Include: Sourcing & writing The Hudson Connection’s cover story • Coordinate family feature components & logistics • Compile a local calendar of events section • Write business profiles and/or additional monthly articles as directed by the publisher • Edit and format all contributed content, including Expert Contributor & resident-submitted articles • Upload all content to the Back Office portal by the submission deadline • Administrative coordination with sponsors & contributors • Maintain client list & editorial calendar • Assemble e-newsletter • Prepare client distributions • Collaborate with publisher to create interesting local content or add new sections as needed
Requirements: Applicants must be located in Columbia County, proficient in computer skills such as internet navigation, copy/paste, email, uploading/downloading images and attachments, and comfortable with basic Microsoft & Google tools (Word, Excel, Drive, & Docs). The candidate who fills this role will serve as a secondary public face of the magazine; must be personable & show professional, friendly and timely communication via email and phone, as well as strong organizational and time management skills in order to successfully manage and write content from multiple sources. The CC/PA position is self-directed, and so must be detail-oriented and able to complete tasks in a timely manner; as well as willing to accept feedback & work collaboratively under the Editor-in-Chief (Publisher). Ideally, the Content Coordinator/Publisher’s Assistant enjoys being out in the community & is passionate about sharing stories of local residents doing good work, branding local businesses, and bringing the positive to the foreground.
