This month, the Hudson Eye invites you to enjoy Turley Gallery's Artist Talk between Daniel Giordano and Jonathan Rider. Join us on Saturday, March 18 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Turley Gallery to view Daniel Giordano’s exhibition The Misadventures of Buddy Crapo: by Land, by Sea, and by Air, enjoy refreshments and hear a discussion between Giordano and Jonathan Rider. Daniel Giordano's work is also currently on view at Mass MoCA where he his exhibition Love from Vicki Island is installed through the end of year. Discussion moderator Jonathan Rider will becoming up from New York City where he works as the director at The FLAG Art Foundation. Turley Gallery is located at 98 Green St., Suite 2, Hudson, NY. Daniel earned his MFA from the University of Delaware. His recent solo exhibitions include the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), North Adams, MA; Ann Street Gallery, Safe Harbors of the Hudson, Newburgh, NY; the Rosenberg Gallery, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY; Wil Aballe Art Projects, BC, Canada; and Sardine, Brooklyn, NY. Recent group exhibitions include Helena Anrather, New York, NY; The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls, NY; The Dorsky Museum, SUNY New Paltz, NY; Fortnight Institute, New York, NY; CLEA RSKY Offsite Project, LeRoy Neiman Gallery, Columbia University, New York, NY; Zürcher Gallery, New York, NY; Fridman Gallery, New York, NY; Barns Art Center, East Fishkill, NY; JDJ, New York, NY; and Anonymous, New York, NY, among others. Daniel was a fellow at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. His work has been featured in Sculpture Magazine, Frontera Digital, Whitehot Magazine, Chronogram, Canadian Art, The New York Times, Cultured Magazine, and Art Spiel, among others. Jonathan Rider (b. 1983, Easton, PA) is an artist, curator, and writer based in New York, NY. Rider is the Director at The FLAG Art Foundation, where he has worked since 2014, and has organized solo presentations by artists Derrick Adams, Kamrooz Aram, Ashley Bickerton, Cynthia Daignault, Elmgreen & Dragset, Genevieve Gaignard, Sam Gilliam, among others, and has organized thematic group exhibitions including In Search of the Miraculous, and I will wear you in my heart of heart, The Times, Dime-Store Alchemy, among others. Previously, he was the Assistant Curator of Art at General from 2011-14. Rider received a BA from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, in 2005, and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY, in 2011. His writing has appeared in Art in America. Turley Gallery was founded in 2021 by its Director, Ryan Turley. The gallery is focused on emerging and established artists, specifically those who push the boundaries of their respective mediums and create work that is fresh, relevant and significant to the contemporary art world.
