The Claverack Free Library and Triform Camphill Community are joining together as friends, neighbors and local non-profit organizations for the 1st Annual “Square Dance in a Round Barn” featuring the music of Jay Ungar and Molly Mason. Jay & Molly have become one of the most celebrated duos in the American acoustic music scene. You may know them from A Prairie Home Companion, from their own radio program Dancing on the Air on WAMC's Northeast Public Radio or from film soundtracks such as Legends of the Fall, Brother's Keeper and Ken Burns' PBS documentary The Civil War. Jay and Molly will open with a concert and then will be calling the square dance. By partnering on this event, the two organizations recognize a shared commitment to the importance of vital community resources and collaborations between local non-profits. The event includes a raffle of vacation packages and a grass-fed side of beef, light refreshments and an ice cream social. An assortment of Triform Marketplace items including products from the weavery, bakery and pottery studio will be on display and available for purchase. Books will also be offered for sale by the library. The Claverack Free Library is well on the way to creating vitally needed space by repurposing the vacant firehouse next door as a new library, cultural center and community-gathering place. The new facility will serve as a catalyst to enliven the heart of town and enhance the library's mission to provide a vast range of free educational and cultural programming, information technology, and literacy services to the community. Triform Camphill Community founded in 1979 and located on 500 acres of farm and gardens, welcomes young adults, generally 18-25 years old, with developmental disabilities, as residential or day students. Its mission is to build a vital community life that provides each person the possibility for self-development and fulfillment of potential. Triform is a non-profit organization supported by generous donors dedicated to continuing this important work.
