Name: Nonfiction Book Group
Date: November 4, 2019
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM EST
Event Description:
The Hudson Area Library’s Nonfiction Book Group dives into the history of Hudson on November 4, reading Diamond Street: The Story of the Little Town with the Big Red Light District by Bruce Edward Hall. The Nonfiction Book Group meets monthly on Mondays, 6-7:30pm, and focuses on history, and social and political life in North America. The group is facilitated by library Board President Mark Orton. To register for the book group email morton@hudsonarealibrary.org. In her 1995 review, Wendy Knickerbocker for Library Journal said, “Hall has produced a lively and engaging local history, written in a conspiratorial tone that immediately draws in the reader. His liberal use of anecdotes gleaned from interviews and personal papers and 40 period photographs enliven this tale of sin in a small town.” This book is available for borrowing through the Mid-Hudson Library System. The Hudson Area Library is located at 51 North Fifth Street in Hudson, NY. The mission of the library is to enrich the quality of life by providing free and equal access to programs, services and resources, and by creating opportunities for all members of our community to connect, create, learn and grow.
