There will be a new 5-week Parent Child Academy at the Hudson Area Library Saturdays, 10:30am – 1pm, Apr. 29, May 6, 13, 20 & 27. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Children’s activities, including a Story and Craft Hour, by our Children’s Librarian and AmeriCorps workers for ages 2+ will available in the library while parents attend a workshop and discussion session. This is our third series of workshops and all are welcome including parents who have already attended. Families with a child, birth to five, can join a supportive community of families and learn how to develop your child’s vital early literacy skills so they will enter Kindergarten ready to read! Participants will receive free books and prizes each week! As a special activity on Saturday, May 6 families will each be given a gift certificate to spend at the Hudson Children’s Book Festival. After meeting at the library and receiving a bag lunch and the gift certificates, attendees and the Academy teacher Kathy Mabb and other library personnel will ride the festival bus (which will be stopping at the library) to the Hudson Children’s Book Festival for a day of fun, activities and shopping for children’s books. We will be arranging other trips and/or outdoor activities for this Academy series as well. For further information and to sign up email brenda.shufelt@hudsonarealibrary.org or call 518-828-1792 x101 or stop by the Hudson Area Library. This event is free and open to the public. It will take place in the community room, which is wheelchair accessible.
