Moving Columbia Forward with the Harlem Valley Rail Trail

Columbia Economic Development Corporation and the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce want to welcome you to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail Association's campaign for connecting the final 20 miles of the trail from Hillsdale to Chatham. 



Harlem Valley Rail Trail. You see trails and trees. We see connections.
With an exciting expansion on the horizon, these paths will take us back and move us forward.
 
Railways that once made everything accessible from Manhattan to Chatham are evolving into pathways that push the boundaries once again. We’ve gone from trains to transformation, to paths of possibilities. As the Harlem Valley Rail Trail continues to grow, we’ll all grow. Bringing people and communities together again. Enriching lives, businesses, and towns. And creating a new New York State of mind and well-being, with nature accessible to all.
 
WHERE THE TRAIL LEADS.
 
The current trail goes from Wassaic to the outskirts of Hillsdale. The final 20 miles will extend from Hillsdale to the Village of Chatham.
 
Expansion is good for everyone. The future of the Harlem Valley Rail Trail is paved with great value to all –– from friends and families who can safely explore further into nature and neighboring towns, connecting them to new people and places in our counties, to small businesses and New York State Economic Development who will welcome an influx of visitors to enjoy all the wonderful experiences they have to offer. The longer the Harlem Valley Rail Trail gets, the more of a destination it will become to a more expansive audience.
 
Harlem Valley Rail Trail is different things to different people.
It’s more than a Trail. It’s personal, experiential, and inspirational. It’s a place to wander filled with wonder. It’s an intersection of our past, present, and future that takes us to where we may never have expected, but we always appreciate.
