Mobile Media Labs for Teens at the Hudson Area Library

The Hudson Area Library invites youth ages 12+ to participate in a series of videomaking workshops presented by Spark Media Project on four Saturdays: July 23, July 30, August 13 and August 27, from 12-4pm. The workshops are as follows: • July 23: Art of Music Videos. Students will pick songs with which to create their own music videos! • July 30: Experimental Film. Students will learn about shots and angles and the process of filmmaking. They will get to experiment with sound, color, time and shot composition with an emphasis on the genre of experimental film. • August 13: Video Poems. Students will pick and interpret their own poems or choose poems they care for and will film imagery and use voiceovers to bring this poetry to life. • August 27: Sci-fi/Fantasy Filmmaking. Students will create a world with out-of-this-world elements! They will learn the basics of the sci-fi fantasy genre. In addition to being fun and creative experiences, these workshops will help develop teens’ understanding of digital media including their ability to critique media. The Hudson Area Library and Spark Media Project share in the goal of providing youth not only with every opportunity to explore their talents, passions, and futures, but also to look at media critically.
