Local History Talk: The Dutch and Haudenosaunee in the Era of Leisler

Historian Erin Kramer will discuss how relationships between the Dutch and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) shaped responses to New York merchant and rebel governor Jacob Leisler’s uprising in the Albany region. By incorporating Haudenosaunee stories into the broader narrative of New York history, this talk will illustrate how Indigenous diplomacy often had a profound effect on local politics and colonial identities.
