In a three-day intensive workshop (July 9 – 11), young people 9 – 13 years old will learn how to create zines, gifs and videos using computers and smart phones. Youth participants will collaborate with digital arts professionals currently working in the field through a partnership with POWRPLNT, local digital artist Shannekia McIntosh, and the Hudson Area Library. Digital artists/instructors include Zia Anger, filmmaker and music video director; Mark Dorf, photographer who mixes photographs with digital media; and Shannekia McIntosh, writer, creative arts programmer and DJ. POWRPLNT is a digital arts collaborative that connects established artists with teens on free interest driven art projects; introducing the history, software and tools of New Media art. They are based in Bushwick; this is their first workshop in Hudson NY. Food will be provided during the sessions.
