Vance recounts his own struggle growing up poor in the Rust Belt and\, through his own life\, shows the disenfranchisement of poor white Americans. Also\, Thursday\, July 19\, 6   8pm the book group will discuss 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by Charles C. Mann. The New York Times Book Review stated of 1491: "Marvelous. . . . A sweeping portrait of human life in the Americas before the arrival of Columbus. . . . A remarkably engaging writer."
